Lobster Rope Doormats are a clever way to recycle Maine float-rope that once tethered lobster traps together in the sea. No longer used because it posed a danger to the Northern Right Whale (an endangered species that often became entangled in the rope), hundreds of thousands of pounds of rope has been pulled from the ocean. Rather then sending it to landfills, it is now being handwoven into these colorful, eco-friendly doormats.

Virtually indestructible, these mats, also known as "Doormats of the DownEast", can withstand even the worst weather Mother Nature can throw at them. Clean up is a snap, too. Just shake the mat out or hose it down - it's even quick-drying! Recommended for non-skid surfaces only.

Doormats available in three sizes: Medium (approximately 18" x 30"), MediumPLUS (approximately 21" x 33") and Large (approximately 24" x 36"). Choose from the widest variety of colors options available anywhere - based on our in-stock inventory.

Because each doormat from Down East Maine is handcrafted from the authentic Maine lobster float ropes that have been pulled from the Atlantic Ocean, no two are ever quite the same.
