Nanne, a wool expert from Maine, has developed the ultimate “green” source of warmth is these all-natural throws. Her sustainable Maine farm not only raises the grass-fed sheep, trains the border collies that herd the flock, shears the 100% fine wool, dyes it using an innovative seawater process, but oversees the weaving on antique shuttle looms in a century-old woolen mill. Every step in the process is bio-regionally produced, meaning it takes place within a 5-hour radius.
Bred for extreme softness, Nanne’s wool is naturally itch-free, washed in soap rather than detergent, and dyed in seawater vats with solar-derived heat to replace chemicals, acids, and petroleum based heat. Since the blankets start with a no-itch wool, and do not have any added chemical itch, they are wonderfully soft and natural. All of her dyes are created from wild-gather botanicals, resonating the colors we see in nature. The wool throws are whip stitched to accent the color.
Nanne’s blankets are currently on display at the Maine State Museum. Now you can enjoy the warmth and comfort of these original, all-natural throws right in your own home. 45" x 70" Supplies are limited!
